The Uganda Society for Health Scientists (USHS) is a research society, whose mission is to play a leading role in improving the health of Ugandans through knowledge and seeking scientific discoveries and inventions”. USHS was formed by Fogarty trainees from various universities in 1999. The society is registered as an NGO and the Society is run by an executive board comprising of the Chairman, Vice chairperson, Secretary, Treasurer and six executive committee members. Membership is open to anybody interested in scientific research and currently membership stands at 928 members consisting of both medical and non medical professionals. The activities of the society are managed and coordinated by the USHS administrative staff.
